Monthly Archives: November 2012

So I’m now over 5 months into the 23:Eat challenge, Adramble and 23 Photos.
23:Eat is coming on nicely – I’ve chomped my way through 12 of the tastes – with only 11 remaining. It feels like I’ve broken the camels back.
But Squirrel and Ox heart are going to be a bit harder to find than Gnocchi and Spotted Dick.
Adramble is now up and routes are planned – they’re here: adramble.co.uk.
I’ll be testing out the walks through December, and starting properly in January.
No clue what demand will be likely – I’ve a feeling it will be slow, although lots of wide-eyed grads will be coming to London for interviews in Spring/Summer.
I’ll wait and see.
23 Photos is a little slower – my HTC camera is a ballache and my blackberry camera is about 4 pixels wide. I need to get out more with my Nikon – certainly over Christmas. All this means the 23 photos of this year are going to be mostly blurry…

Ahh.
I’ve been waiting to taste Steak Tartare for a while.
And I can finally say I have.
Beautiful starter at a beautiful meal last Friday – a tasty blend of meat, raw egg, herbs and spices.

Heartily recommended.

So quite an easy one to tick off the list…
Spotted dick.
I’m not too sure why I hadn’t eaten this before.
After tasting it, I was certain I HAD eaten it before.
And then it hit me. It tastes exactly like Christmas pudding.
Without the added seasonality.
And with a funny name instead.
Anyway – onwards!

A beautiful day in Borough market.
Beautiful not least because we found two of the food challenges.
Kangaroo (we had meatballs) and Dandelion Wine.

The kangaroo we bought immediately – an easy decision for dinner.
It made the centrepiece of a beautiful pasta dish, and tasted delicious.
Kangaroo meat is like a tastier beef – rich and almost nutty.

Tempting fate a little though, we left the dandelion wine at the market.
A risky move – as it’s not the easiest thing to find in the world – but it gives me another excuse to hop south of the river!

I’m almost half way on 23:eat.
